Songs of the Army
When you join with the Army you'll sing and chant with the Army. In the folklore of this community, the vernacular is most commonly heard through their chants and songs. Some of these are reserved for special times during the game and some are reserved for certain opponents. In following their policy that anyone can be apart of the army that supports the "Rose City", lyrics are provided at games for new participants to follow and capos (song leaders) help direct the unity of the crowd.
Bury Me in Timbers Green
And when I go (x2)
And when I go make sure Iām wearing green and gold
Wave flags duing this part:
Bury me in Timbers Green, Ohh-ohh
Bury me in Timbers Gold, Ahh-ahh
Bury me in Timbers Green, Ohh-ohh
Bury me in Timbers Gold, Ahh-ahh
Rose City, Whoa-Oh
Rose City, Whoa-oh
Rose City, Whoa-oh
Stand for the boys in green
The best youāve ever seen
Keep It Up
Whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh-ohh!
Whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh-ohh!
Keep it up, Rose City!
Donāt let up, no pity!
Keep it up, Rose City!
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-ohh!
Portland We Love You So
Portland we love you so
And where you go we will follow
Portland we love you so
Youāve stolen our hearts. TIM-BERS!

Communicating inside the Community
Within the community of the Army, there are some variances of how they communicate, but having an understanding of the sport and the terminology used is how one shows the group their dedication. Some of the key basics are off-sides (when an offensive player has no defenders between him and the goal when the ball is passed), clean sheet (when the goalie prevents any goals from being made), assist (when a player helps another make a goal), tackle or slide tackle (when a player takes the ball away from the other team in a physical play), corner (shortened from corner-kick), and "PK" which is what they say for a penalty kick.
In the fan lingo, there are a few phrases that can be heard repeatedly. These are "No Pity in the Rose City" and "Rose City Till I Die". At the heart of their dedication to the team is the tie to the community of Portland and the state of Oregon. More commonly the hashtag of #RCTID can be seen in the online connections of this community.
